My love of comics goes way back. All through high school, I worked at a local comic shop in Memphis near Memphis State (now University of Memphis). While in high school I became manager of their second location. I eventually opened my own store in 1988 called “The Comic Strip”.
Life eventually led me to my lovely bride, Stephanie. She wanted to get married where she was from so we traveled to Townsend, TN and I immediately fell in love with the area. In 2008 we called East Tennessee our home.
THE STORY OF
I always thought the Biddle Building would be a great location for a shop. In August of 2015, I purchased the building from the widow of the original owner. Renovations began January of 2016 and our grand opening was on Free Comic Day, May 7th, 2016.
I still love the building and where possible the original material was used in the restoration effort. 1942 is known as the “Golden Age” of comics and the dedication stone on the Biddle Building was set in 1942. This building not only originally held Blount County's own WGAP Radio but also Maryville’s first pizzeria, Candlelight Pizza.
