SENIORS

SENIOR ADULT

MINISTRIES

These ministries are for adults between the ages of 55 and 105.  As Baby Boomers retire, there will be an increasing number of senior adults in the United States.  The Senior Adult Ministries are designed to challenge and nurture this age group through a variety of intentional offerings, by, with, and for senior adults to help them “Love God, Grow Together, and Reach Out.”

If you would like more information about any other ministries listed below or find out how you can get involved please contact Sissy Heaton at sheaton@fbsumc.org.

SINGLE VISION

Single Vision meets weekly on Monday nights at 6:30 p.m. for a meal followed by a 7:15 p.m. special program of interest (usually in the church Fellowship Hall).  Other off-site activities occur frequently, such as putt-putt, picnics at local recreational spots, and walks on the Greenbelt, as well as trips to local restaurants.  For news about upcoming events with Single Vision, please email  daveredd@gmail.com or click the link for the appropriate newsletter below:

Mission Update – Shades of Grace – Drop into Shades of Grace anytime between 9am – 3pm to help if needed or visit and talk with the people Shades of Grace serves. Food donations are needed and can be taken to Shades of Grace between 9am – 3pm weekdays. They can use bread, sandwich fixings (such as sliced meat, cheese, peanut butter and jelly), packaged snack foods, pudding and fruit cups, canned meat and crackers, and non-perishable items that do not require heating or a can opener. They would also like to have fresh fruit and vegetables to provide proper nutrition.

Safe House – They are always grateful to receive all donations. Items needed are clothing for adult women, infants and children to age 10, socks and underwear; personal care items; bedding for single beds and cribs; paper products, etc.

Locked Door Policy – The church has implemented a new policy relative to the church being locked after the staff leaves. All doors will be locked at 6pm except on Sunday and Wednesday. This is a security and staff issue. When we meet in the Fellowship Hall, come to the doors at the Fellowship Hall and knock. Someone will let you in.

Meal Policy – Just a reminder – meal reservations are binding and unless someone is available to take your reservation, you will be expected to pay. To cancel, please call the reservation line (423-224-1502) BY 8:30 AM Monday morning. If you learn after 8:30 that you cannot attend, call the church office (423-224-1500). If we know you will not be there after the deadline for cancellation, it will be easier to fill your slot if someone comes without a reservation. We will make every effort to fill your spot, but we are charged for the number of reservations made. Single Vision cannot afford to pay for these meals. Thanks for your understanding.
